The temperature and pressure both drop as the hot liquid refrigerant reaches the expansion valve. This process creates the chilly air we predict from our air conditioning systems. 

Cool, filtered air is dispersed by a fan. 

The refrigerant then returns to the evaporator once more, where the air conditioner fans release the cooled air into the structure. Many air conditioners include built-in filters that remove any particles and contaminants such as fan cycles and exhaust the cool air. 

Built-in air conditioner filters are a common practice among manufacturers. Always follow manufacturer recommendations for the ideal filter type for your air conditioner for the best performance.
